Howdy All,
So today I am mixing it up with something a bit different. I've been mulling over a poem in my head now for quite some time. It is political in nature, as well, perhaps, as philosophical. After all the bullshitting that has gone on due to politicians for the past decade or so (recessions, wars, severe impingements on human rights), I couldn't help but feel that we, as citizens of this country, and of this world, are responsible for letting those in power get away with all of the crap they have been getting away with. So I wrote the following.
Judge it as you see fit:

So I wrote the following.
Judge it as you see fit:
Avast, Ye Citizens
Avast Ye Citizens!
Stand Ye All,
And hold your heads up high.
Avast Ye Citizens!
Great and tall,
Darkness doth wander nigh!
Fierce men do come.
Our work, undone,
Is ripened for exploit.
Society,
By you and me,
Is threatened at its height.
So Stand! Ye Citizens,
Of all this;
Our strongest of all times.
Stand! Ye Citizens!
Don't you shift!
Be true to your bloodlines.
In shaded night,
Avoiding fight,
They sneak, and lie and steal.
Through legal hoops,
And shifty dupes,
They stomp us with their heel.
Pol-itics,
And legalese,
And robber barons too.
On soil, in this
Land of the free,
They split us into groups.
Republocrats,
Democlicans,
For power they do yearn
If divided we stand,
United they'll move
Our rights will surely burn.
So stand United,
As sovereign States,
In this great nation, true.
It's one for all,
And all for one!
Each bleeds red, white, and blue!
That's right! Ye Citizens!
Brave and wary,
And vigilant,
We must be.
An assault upon our unity,
Is that which makes us weak.
Apart we fall,
As one,
We all,
Will fail,
'Twill be rough.
Allied, we're strong,
Fighting,
Masked wrong,
Truly
Hard and tough.
So Stand!
Stand!
Stand!
Ye citizens,
Bow not your weary heads!
Our smarts,
Arts,
Hearts,
And pride,
Are the binding threads!
So stand by me,
Men and women,
Even girls and boys.
Face us down,
These bureaucrats,
That are so terr'bly poised!
With gumption, let's move!
We will not lose,
If action we do take!
Our hearts are strong,
Our cause, not wrong,
Surely must prevail!
Cast them out!
I call on ye!
Citizens of this land!
Exorcise,
With bigotry,
False politic-i-ans!
Sanity, Maturity,
Civility as well,
We must maintain,
These virtues, strained,
To avoid
A black death knell.
Avast, Ye Citizens,
Come together,
On this important quest.
Alone, we'll fail.
Freedom must sail,
Put forth a full-court press!
Against Corruption,
Against Vindication,
Against Greed and Falsety.
We'll wage battle,
With strength and meddle,
And compassion between each.
Avast, Ye Citizens!
Hear my words!
In your hearts it all rings true.
Society shakes,
With violent quakes.
And no one to blame but you.
'Twas sloth,
False pride, and apathy
That got us here today.
In this,
Sweet land of the free,
Our mirrored image, we must obey.
Our nation reflects,
The effort that's spent,
Keeping it honest and strong.
When the pillars of this,
Great country do fall,
It is we that did it wrong.
So shape up!
Ye citizens,
Along with me.
To standards, let's hold ourselves,
That transform our fair land, so free,
To heaven from this hell.
That's right, we citizens!
We must see,
We can suppress dark men.
By suppressing
Our darkest tendencies,
That grow so sharp within.
With me, dear citizens,
Stand ye free!
We must forget and forgive,
One another,
Upon our honor,
Let us each live to let live.
But hold them we will,
Those responsible,
For evil, distruth, and greed.
Fight them we must,
Those who would harm us,
If we're to truly be free!
Avast, Ye citizens!
Stand ye tall!
Looking both out and in!
Avast Ye citizens!
For each and for all,
This journey we must begin!
